Alex has ridden for Team Sky for the last two seasons after having been on the GB Academy for many years and from there went to the US team, Trek Livestrong. British champion at both Junior (road race) and under-23 (twice at the ITT) ranks, his European individual time trial gold in 2010 and the silver medal achieved at the Commonwealth Games opened the doors for him at Sky team.

He made his WorldTour debut at the age of 22, notching up two stage wins at the Tour of Britain and the Tour de Poitou-Charentes. In 2012, and despite a fractured elbow in March, he bounced back to conquer a second title at the British ITT, claim runner-up at the road race and achieve a spot within the best ten in the World Championships.

Alex says on Facebook “This isn’t a decision I have taken lightly. SKY is a fantastic team and I was flattered that they wanted me to stay but I have a new opportunity and a new chapter of my career. I would like to thank everybody at ‘Team SKY’ who have supported me over the last couple of years. I now look forward to an exciting 2013 with ‘Movistar’.”
