Week 5 of the Brooks Cycles Track league took place on the 30th May with the proceedings opening with the Go Ride Racing for the freewheelers. This made the races even more competitive with the top three in each group being awarded medals. At the end of the 12 race program the winners were as follows
Group 1 1st Bradley Heath, 2nd Sam Hall 3rd Adam Barr
Group 2 1st Natasha Sandbach 2nd Harry Brayford 3rd Evie Davis
Group 3 1st Izaak Curtis 2nd Ruby Baldwin 3rd Gracie Walters
The main league saw the most competitive races in the Sprinters League with the Keiren Final being particularly exciting as the 6 finalist battled for the win. Sean Mayer ( Swinnerton Cycles) took a fine win from Joel Partington ( Sportcity Velo) and Steve Cronshaw ( Brooks Cycles). The other sprints events were the 2 up time trial won by Phil Houlton and Steve Cronshaw ( Brooks Cycles and the team sprint where the team of James Roberts ( North Cheshire Clarion) Steve Cronshaw and Sean Mayer took the win.
The A class endurance riders had a good mix of events with Will Thomas( Velocity RT) winning the 10 laps scratch and the 12 lap motor paced race and Andy Leigh ( Velocity RT) taking the 2000m individual pursuit. Joel Partington rode a great race to win the 10 mile scratch as he used his strong sprint finish to take the win.
In the B Class events Andrew Scott ( Lyme RC) won all four events as he showed his form is good on his comeback trial after a number of years away from racing. He won the 10 laps scratch, devil, course de primes and 10 mile.
The youth races saw a smaller field than usual , no doubt down to the school holidays however this did not stop some fine racing with Liam Zwestchnikow ( Lyme RC) winning the devil and scratch and James Baryford ( Lyme RC) winning the 200m TT. Aleshia Mellor ( Newcastle RC 2001), James Brayford and Bradley Hill ( Lyme RC) won the team sprint.
