![]() |
The Moor 2 Sea takes place from Exeter Racecourse on Saturday September 7th and is open to a maximum of 1000 participants. There is a choice of three routes – The Inspire (60km / 37 miles ), Challenge (104km / 65 miles), or Extreme (180 km / 112 miles).
The Challenge & Extreme routes both include a ‘King of the Mountains’ timed hill stage, sponsored by ProVision Clothing. This will take place on Haytor Hill, the same location that will be used for the finish of the Devon stage of the 2013 Tour of Britain just two weeks later. The timed segment will be over 3.7 miles and takes in 1,200 ft of climb. There is a trophy & KoM Jersey for the best time on the day and everyone who completes the climb within 26 minutes will receive a prestigious KoM award.
The Inspire route has been designed as an introduction to endurance cycling. It has a feed zone at 22 miles (35 km) and includes a couple of challenging hills, including one that hits 16%!
The Challenge route is aimed at the mainstream sportive rider who wants to test their legs on our notorious Devon hills. The route covers 65 miles and takes in approximately 6,400 ft of climb. Haytor is the main climb of the day with a couple of other short sharp ascents, including a leg burning 25% out of Ponsworthy. There are two Feed Zones at the 22 and 42 mile points.
The Extreme route has been designed to cater for the serious endurance athletes who are looking for a tough cycling challenge! This route, covers 112 miles of Devon roads from sea level through to 1481 ft. with gradients up to 26% and over 11,000 ft of climbing. The main ascents for the day are at Haytor, Holne and Poundsgate. There are feed zones at 22, 42, 76 and 89 miles.
