Hugh says “thanks to our staff for looking after us over the last two weeks – they are Dave Lee, Ewen Mcdonald , Mark Davies, Jane Wood, Pete Johnson, Leigh Holmes, Jim Wallace, Matt lee (not pictured), Sean Yates (not pictured).

“Typical – it was our rest day LoL” says the team’s Hugh Wilson. The riders took full advantage and rode down to their favourite cafe 1919 and spent most of their wages … A bit of relaxing done, some of the riders then did a bit of a loop on the way back as the weather was so good and they were going to take full advantage.

It was back to work on Thursday with a cheeky four or five hours planned with the riders from Team Sky meeting the NFTO riders along the way. “That was was cool” says Hugh. ” The team Sky riders included Geraint Thomas, Luke Rowe, Ben Swift, Ian Stannard, Ian Boswell and Pete Kennaugh. “They came with us to ‘Sa Pobla’ where most of them turned off to get back to meetings” explained Hugh.

En route to sa Pobla, the Sky/NFTO train pulled over for a nature break and more Sky riders came along the other way and the group swelled as the likes of Edvald Boasson Hagen and others pulled over to have a chat with their team mates.

“Edvald Bosson Hagen was quite keen to tuck into our stash of Haribo” says Hugh “much to the surprise of our support staff”.

When they got through Inca, the NFTO riders had a race up Selva in 2 groups like a team pursuit but the riders would their turn at the front and then peel off once they had done their turn. “My group comprised of Adam (Blythe), Russ (Downing), Josh (Hunt) and last man Hank (James Lowsley Williams). We rode pretty well but had to stop half way up because a bus swung around one of the hairpins and took up the whole road!”

“The second group (they were second because they lost the rock/paper scissors draw comprised of: “Tank (Lewis), Dean (Downing), Dale (Appleby), Sam Williams and Jon Mould. Group 2 took the win by about 50 seconds with Mouldy their main man. Fair play lads – going well! After that, we rode up to the top of Lluc and then down to Sa Colobra where we had a quick coffee before riding up the other side. Ewen took some good photos on the way up.”

“Me, Sam and Russ decided to do a bit more so rode to the car park half way up cap de Formentor and back, adding about 50 mins to the ride. Then it was back to the villa for food.”

Their last day is Friday with the weather forecast good is which after a wet wet start, is very welcome. “We have had a great camp” Hugh says. “It was good to get to know all the boys properly. We are all healthy and ready to go back to the miserable British weather, grippy roads and Christmas shopping! Bring it on!”
