Team Manager Mauro Pizzol said “It was decided early on in the project to include several UCI races in our plans, therefore our focus was to put together a Team with strong and experienced riders, creating a well balanced group that could work harmoniously.”

“I really think we have achieved that. We have riders with a lot of UCI experience who will certainly bring results to the Team, but we also have exceptional young talents whom will grown and develop and will contribute to the Team’s success.

Despite the expected initial difficulties of being a new Team, we are now extremely satisfied with the level of riders that we have attracted. We are still in talks with an additional Italian rider from an Italian UCI Team, but with the current roster of riders, we will leave a mark on the 2014 women’s racing scene”

In addition to the Women’s Tour of Britain, which remains to be confirmed, the other main aim of the Team will be to support its riders to be part of the Commonwealth Games and to reach that event with the best possible level of fitness. Four of Velosport Pasta Montegrappa’s riders are aiming to take part to the Commonwealth Games.

Mauro Pizzol added “We will work closely with Scottish Cycling and Northern Ireland Cycling Federation. We want to make sure that Claire Thomas, Lucy Coldwell, Julie Erskine and Lydia Boylan are given the best opportunity to approach the Glasgow Games with the the best possible form. It is a life-time opportunity.”

“We will give 100% to help them to turn their dream into reality. This is the management’s and the sponsors’ priority. To give the riders the best chances of success, it is essential to give to them the opportunity to race at UCI level.”

“Even if local activity can sometimes be more commercially appealing, our British sponsor’s have understood the need to race Internationally to be best prepared for the Women’s Tour and the Commonwealth Games. 2014 is a special year that will require a very special effort from everyone.”

The Team’s first UCI race for the Team will be the Le Samyn des Dames, in Belgium , followed by UCI Omloop van het Hageland – Tielt-Winge. Later in March the Team will move to Italy to take part to the UCI 1.1 Classica Citta’ di Padova and then UCI 1.2 GP Comune di Cornaredo, near Milan, followed by few days of training on the Prosecco hills near Treviso.
