An Accredited Marshal is a trained road cycling marshal who is legally empowered to stop and hold traffic during a race using a new Stop Cycle Race Sign approved by the Department for Transport.

British Cycling will provide you with the training you need including an online module and a practical training session. After this you will be ready to start marshalling! Each marshal is expected to commit to a minimum of five races.

By volunteering as an Accredited Marshal you will be playing an important role securing the future of road racing in this country by helping us to make staging road races easier, more professional and, most importantly of all, safer for riders and other road users. You’ll also be helping to make sure that these great events continue happening in your local community and helping British Cycling to provide our next generation of cycling talent with the opportunity to race safely and regularly on Britain’s roads.

As a thank you for your time, support and hard work, Accredited Marshals who attend the training course get free British Cycling Bronze Membership. Volunteers will also be awarded with a certificate and receive free Accredited Marshal clothing.

For more information and to register your interest in volunteering please contact Grant Bayton, on 07940 302 249 or grantbayton@britishcycling.org.uk
