Last year saw David battle to gain full fitness after back to back illnesses during the first half of the season. During this period, he continued to race and gave everything and more to aid his Azerbaijan team.

As his health improved David enjoyed the podium himself as he climbed his way into GC contention in the Tour of East Java where he secured 3rd GC and 2nd KoM. David’s new team for 2014 is based on the outskirts of Manchester and was put together by fellow rider Rob Adlard and Neil Taylor of road-and-trail.com. The bikes they will be using are the KTM designed and built Revelator model, with components still to be finalised.

David’s first race of the season will be the challenging Grand Prix de Lillers, (UCI 1.2) which will be celebrating its 50th year of the event. For David, this is new direction with a new team where his experience and raw talent will be the driving force out on the roads.

His winter preparations have gone well and he’s looking forward to the season ahead. He is currently with all of the team in Calpe, Southern Spain, for a two week training camp. The weekend was spent team building out on the roads and marks the first of many days in the mountains building strength for the upcoming season.
