On a nice sunny day 20 riders started the Southend Wheelers “Over The Hill” race, which had the riders climbing the Hoggenberg three times during the one hour + 3 Laps race. This split the race up into several small groups with the leading two riders Geof Wiles (Abellio/San Fairy Ann CC) and Bob Downs (Rapha /Condor) sprinting out the finish, with Geoff Wiles (Abellio/San Fairy Ann CC) getting the better of Bob Downs (Rapha /Condor).

With the sun still shinning 32 riders started, they also had to climb the Hoggenberg 4 times during the A,B,C.D race. With no more than half a lap gone, Antony Wallis (Ciclo Uno) broke away and went on to lap the field. Also three other riders Andrew Bates (Colourtech RT) Kevin Newlands (4 T + Velo Club) and Tony Meader (Eagle RC) broke away and chased after the leader, although they could not catch the leader they also went on to lap the rest of the race, with Antony Wallis (Ciclo Uno) taking the win and Kevin Newlands (4 T + Velo Club) out sprinting Andrew Bates (Colourtech RT) for second and third.
