VeloUK called into Dolan Bikes on Friday and caught up with the news of the latest products in their catalogue of pro quality components. Anyone not aware of Terry Dolan’s pedigree in the bike trade only need to look around the warehouse at the names on the bikes he has built for the very best in the world of cycle racing. Bradley Wiggins, Chris Hoy, Chris Boardman, David Millar, Mark Cavendish and Rob Hayles just a few riders who have ridden, and still do ride, bikes from the master frame builder.
Whether its the hour record, six day races, World Championships and Olympics on the track or a little chipper ;-) called the Tour de France, Terry Dolan’s frames have been winners and so when he chooses a product to add to his catalogue, you can be sure its quality.
Which leads me to one of a number of new products in stock at Dolan Bikes, a professional quality chainset from Sugino, the SG75DD track crankset. This has been approved by Nihon Jitensha ShinkÅkai organisation, (NJS) in Japan which is a accolade for the product in itself and the chainset is also used by many of the top professionals on the track.
The crankset comes in Black and Silver models with the former in stock at Dolan Bikes. It comes with the renowned Zen chainrings which like the cranks themselves are extremely stiff. The rings come in sizes 46 to 55 with custom rings for 56 to 60 also an option. The crank lengths are 165 and 170 with a 175 option also able to be ordered we understand.
The chainring side of the crankset is press fitted to a 24mm dia axel which is fitted to the bike using one of two sealed bottom brackets; one with normal bearings and another with ceramic (amazing these are!). This new crankset is lighter and stiffer than previous models and costs £299.99 which includes:
Zen Chainring
SG75 DD Cranks
MB608-Ç Bottom Brackett
Chainring Bolts
