Title sponsor Corley Cycles in partnership with ‘Drops’ to form a new team for 2015 called ‘Corley Cycles Drops RT’
TEAM PRESS RELEASE
Long established Milton Keynes based ‘Corley Cycles’ are to title sponsor with ‘Drops’ (cycling wallpaper…) for the 2015 season.
The Corley Cycles Drops Racing Team will compromise squads across Youth A & B age-groups, a National Junior Team, National Female and Male Squads forming a 27 rider line up. Instrumental in this major change from previous teams is Phil Corley (former Professional & National Road Race Champion) who said of the expanded team “I’m delighted to be supporting the young local future stars, particularly as it has brought along lots of support from like-minded people. Hopefully the squad will achieve great results in the year to come.â€
The aim of the team is to provide a development structure for talented young riders from Youth age group racing, through to Junior, U23/Senior ranks of the sport. Youth Riders will be focused on National Youth Circuit Race Series events, while the Junior’s will concentrate on the National Series Road events. There will also be a cross over into Track & Time Trial disciplines.
The revised look senior Male squad will have a focus on the National B calendar events with some National A & high profile Crit’s in the mix. There is also a Women’s squad where the ladies will compete across National/Team Series events, while also targeting the UK televised racing series.
Currently, with four riders signed for the Female Squad, the team is looking for CV’s from interested females who are looking to compete at the highest UK level – with the Tour Series in the mix, plus races like London Nocturne. Interested parties should send their CV’s to shop@corleycycles.com FAO; Katy & Jamie.
Bob Varney, co-founder of Drops.cc; the 2014 team’s new co-title sponsor says of the project, “when Phil first asked me to get involved with this project I politely declined. When he asked for a second time, I thought about it a little more seriously but declined again. I am so pleased he asked for a third time and I am now well and truly hooked. It’s brilliant being back on the cycling scene. I am so enthusiastic to be working with a great team of people and looking forward to passing on some of my previous experience, especially with the young riders.”
Katy Simcock – Director Corley Cycles; “We are all very excited about 2015, to have squads covering all age groups and specifically incorporating a women’s team makes it special. We have four very talented ladies already signed and what I love about our girls is that they cover all disciplines of the sport, Road, Track, MTB and Cyclo-Cross”.
“We’ve already seen great representation within the Cyclo-X season, of note David Barnes 5th place at the MK World Cup Junior event – we too have seen Charlotte (Broughton) strutting her stuff on the mud! I’m really excited to have the female element introduced for 2015.”
With the team supporting five tiers of the sport, with eight Youth (A&B) riders, six Junior Males, five Females, supported by eight Males, the new look team will make quite the impact. The team will be racing on Cervelo bikes, finished with Shimano shifting equipment, while wheels & apparel are supplied by Mavic, in their trademark ‘Yellow’ – SMS Santini provide the technical race clothing.
