The Velo29 Winter Series this year has seven rounds of racing on the Croft Motor Circuit, just off the A1 near Scotch Corner. It’s always a really well attended event and despite the early January start this year, each round has seen over 100 riders.

Ladies Podium

It kicks off at 11:00am with 4th Cats, then racing in parallel but in their own race we have ladies racing from 11:01. Ladies racing is new at Croft this year but the first two rounds have been well attended and the racing competitive. At 12:15 there is an E/1/2/3/4 handicap attracting local riders of all categories as well as travellers from as far as the borders and Cambridge! 4th Cats can ride in both races for an extra £5.

Croft is wide and flat with good visibility so the racing is safe, loads of first timers in the 4th cat race. It stands up to the weather well and even last weekend with the frost, the racing went ahead with no issues.

You can enter on the BC site or on the day, there are prizes for each race as well as an overall trophy and team prize.

If the boredom of Winter training is getting to you and you fancy a change then head to Croft, it’s a good mid-winter workout and something different to plodding away the miles on a club run.

The cakes and coffees in the pit house afterwards are excellent as well!
