Report & Results – Redbridge Spring Warm Up Series

REDBRIDGE SPRING WARM UP SERIES 4TH Cat Only- RACE 1
A large field of 50 riders took to the start line for the first week of the Redbridge Cycling Centre Spring Warm Up Series. A relatively slow start meant the bunch stayed together until lap 7 when an attack by Tim Torrie took place. Charlie Passfield from Walden Velo tried to go with Torrie but was unable to keep pace with the youth rider and soon returned to the bunch before Callum Clarke bridged the gap and began working with Torrie. By the end of the 18 laps the leaders had established a gap of about 20 seconds and Torrie took the sprint over Clarke to mark a fine win for the youngster from home club Lee Valley Youth CC. Richard Clark from Hertfordshire Wheelers took the bunch sprint for third.

2/3/4 – RACE 1
The 2nd , 3rd and 4ths race was a much more competitive event than the previous races with Wojiech Szlachta attacking from the first lap. He was joined by Tom Fitzpatrick on lap 3 and from then on the duo built an impressive lead. The pair stayed away from the bunch for the whole 23 laps and the field knew that when they had lost over a minute they were racing for 3rd place. A puncture in the middle of the race by Szlachta meant a lap out but he rejoined his companion and they were soon on the last lap. There were a lot of race tatics and arm waving by the pair as they jostled for position but in the end it was irrelevant as Szlachta took the sprint comfortably. Behind the bunch was led in by Charles Page from Edgware Racing Team.
