Individual win for Madison Genesis from Tom Scully as the Pearl Izumi Tour Series kicks off on the Isle of Wight

Team News – Madison Genesis Tour Series
The 2015 Pearl Izumi Tour Series kicked off in style yesterday in the coastal town of Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
The newly paved 1.3km circuit that included the difficult climb of Union Street each lap was to host a very short team time trial in the afternoon, followed by the more traditional criterium race later on in the evening. The winning team from the round would be the one with the lowest aggregate time of all five riders.
The storms and pouring rain abated just in time for the time trial but in the damp conditions Madison Genesis – second team to ride – decided to err on the side of caution, posting a very respectable 3 minutes 48 seconds over the 2.6km route, only bettered by the One Pro Cycling team.

The one hour (plus five laps) evening criterium proved to be an exciting affair. From the start Madison Genesis were on the offensive and after just five minutes of racing, Tom Stewart was alone in front.
Despite a concerted chase behind, the gap hovered between 15 and 25 seconds for 45 minutes allowing Tom to take maximum points in the sprints competition, a leaders jersey he will have to wear for the next round in Redditch.
When Tom was finally caught with ten minutes of racing to go and the race was shattered into groups all-round the 1.3km loop, it was the turn of Madison Genesis’ other Tom, Tom Scully to show his class. A blistering attack that opened up a 16 second gap in just one kilometre paved the way for an impressive solo victory.
Roger Hammond, Team Manager:Â “What a fantastic night of racing, both Tom Stewart and Tom Scully were incredibly impressive. To really dictate the racing like that was a pleasure to watch, albeit nerve-racking! Next stop Redditch.”
