Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling are delighted to announce the addition of Harry Tanfield for 2021. Harry needs no introduction, having spent the last two years competing at the top tier of the sport, at World Tour level for Katusha and Ag2r respectively. Harry is an accomplished time trialist and single day specialist and having participated in the Vuelta d’Espana, his addition will strengthen the team’s stage racing capabilities.
Harry memorably took the win on Stage 1 of the 2018 edition of the Yorkshire Tour. Tanfield made history with this win, becoming the first UK and, to the delight of the county, the first Yorkshire rider to win a stage of the Tour de Yorkshire. Some of Harry’s most notable other accomplishments include silver in the time trial at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a Bronze in the TTT at the 2019 Road Worlds in Harrogate, alongside now teammate Dan Bigham.
Harry, “With the current wider situation I’m delighted to have found a place at a team that can support my ambitions of returning to the highest level in the sport. I want to continue progressing as a rider, I believe I can do so successfully here with a strong European race program. I’ve known the team at Ribble Weldtite for years, competing both with and against many of their current riders. I am looking forward to getting stuck in again at the sharp end! ”
Tom Timothy, Team Principal, added “We’re delighted to add Harry to the team for 2021, he brings in a wealth of experience and expertise. We’ve known Harry for most of his cycling career and have watched him progress with interest. We feel he’ll be a great fit for our team and help develop our younger riders as well as produce results of his own. With the addition of Harry and some as yet to be released new signings Ribble Weldtite has a squad that can challenge in even the biggest races in 2021.”
Despite a challenging 2020 for obvious reasons, the team continues to go from strength to strength, with a clear vision and the commitment and support of a core group of partners. 2021 is shaping up to be the team’s most successful to date, both on and off the bike.
Look out for an interview with Harry later today on VeloUK
Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling have continued to develop year on year and built a sustainable platform for success and progression. The team are continuing at UCI Continental level for 2021.
