Tom Pidcock hopes to make his debut in a Grand Tour this year with his preferred option being the Vuelta a España. The multi talented British rider has announced this in the Lanterne Rouge Cycling Podcast.

Pidcock will make the switch to INEOS Grenadiers in February, after the cyclocross World Cup. His first race for the British team will not be a road race, but a mountain bike race. Pidcock is at the start of the Mediterranean Epic (11-14 February) in Spain. Then he plans to ride the Volta ao Algarve (17-21 February) and the Flemish opening weekend. It will be his debut in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne classics.

“I don’t have a break after the World Cup cyclocross. I will go straight to the road, ”said Pidcock. “After the first races, I will ride Strade Bianche. Then I hope to insert a mountain bike block in June, hopefully followed by the Olympics. And then I want to ride the Vuelta and the World Championship on the road.”

“I would like to do a Grand Tour” said the Yorkshire rider. “I’m not going there as a leader, but I can ride for myself and ride for the team. I am happy with that. There is no pressure and then it is easy to perform. And I sometimes enjoy working for others. ” Pidcock it is said will not ride Paris-Roubaix in 2021.
