Result: Otley Town Centre Races

Eluned King sprints to victory ahead of April Tacey and Jenny Holl in the Womens event, Matt Gibson won the Men’s event after a three up break dominated the race, Rob Scott was second and junior Josh Tarling was third

Result: Otley Town Centre Races

Big time bike racing return for both men and women with the running of the LOGCO Otley Town Centre Races in Yorkshire. At 5.15pm, after the crew for the event had closed  the roads down, the very young stars of the future were out racing their balance bikes before the under 16 boys and girls took to the full circuit to race flat out with Matthew Brennan winning from Jed Smithson and Seb Grindley. The Girls was won by Ella Jamieson from Cat Ferguson and Elizabeth McKinnon.

The support race for category 2/3/4 riders was next and a huge line up of riders took to the circuit and like all races during the event, there were riders keen to get a break going but nothing was escaping the power of the peloton and the race ended in a bunch sprint won by Jamie Ridehalgh in a very tight finish from youngster Griff Lewis with Thomas Timberlake in the Brother UK sponsored team OnForm in third.

The evening with a huge crowd watching, then saw the best of the British women take to the two kilometre course to race 15 laps (around 20 miles). An early crash saw the race restarted and soon riders were trying to get clear with riders from Storey Sport, Drops, Crimson Orientation Marketing RT and others getting a gap but being brought back.The pace was certainly high as there was just as much action at the back with riders being dropped but there was still a sizeable group contesting the finish with GB rider Eluned King winning from April Tacey and Jenny Holl.

MENS RACE
The final race of the night, with the light fading, and the crowd at its biggest, saw well over 100 riders going full speed early on as riders tried to get clear. Rob Scott and Josh Tarling gapped the peloton at the bottom of the climb chased by Josh Giddings but it was Matt Gibson who had the gas to not just attack out of the peloton but also bridge across to the two leaders.

Their gap was never very much and some powerful chase groups formed like one with Ben Turner and Jacob Scott but the peloton, after a lull in the beginning, raised its tempo to bring back the chase groups and get the gap to the leaders down to 15 seconds or so with WorldTour pro Harry Tanfield and his Brother Charlie noticable at the front of the peloton. The gap to the leaders though was never closed until it was too late with Matt Gibson winning the sprint from Rob Scott whilst the peloton, headed up by GB academy rider Sam Watson, finished on the rear wheel of third placed Joshua Tarling, on junior gears and unable to match the seniors in the down hill finish.
