A very strong north westerly wind made conditions tricky for the 326 competitors who took part in round seven of Team Royal London 360 Isle of Man’s youth league at the National Sports Centre last Tuesday night.

Picking up from where they left off, twin sisters Caitlyn and Chloe Hampson returned from holiday to fill the top two positions in the novices class. Round six winner Tiana Kelly ousted William Lomas, Harrison Skillan and Ryan Batty in the charge for third, with Aaron Kinvig leading Mia Walmsley, Leon Murphy and Molly Hinds home for seventh. Hugo Howland-Smith pipped Zoe Bridson for 11th and the fast finishing Isabella Beck came through the field to snatch 13th from Robbie Valerga.

In the born 2008 & later age group regular top three finisher T.J.Teare finally made to the top step on the podium, outsprinting the previously unbeaten Myles Le Geyt for a fine maiden victory. Ollie Eyres was a close third and Lennon Moore stayed clear of leading girl Fearne Bregazzi to claim fourth. Alec Sorby was a lonely sixth and George Kinnish edged out Edward Field and Nicole Delooze for seventh. Callum Christian completed the top ten leader board.

Cian Howard rode away from breakaway partner Orry Lund to score his fifth win in the born 2007 event. Archie Dunn, Dexter Russell, George Kearns and first girl Florence Griffin trailed in on their own to round off the top six, while Zack Bellhouse held off Jemma Quayle in the tussle for seventh. Sophie Hindson was ninth and Rio Kelly won the bunch sprint for tenth.

In the born 2006 race Ivan Sorby came out on top in a head to head battle with arch rival Cian Jackson. The consistent Zachary Dowson was third ahead of Owen Collins and Drystan Sewell in solid fourth and fifth places. Corey Peters overcame a late challenge from Harry Eyres in the battle for sixth and Logan Glover was too strong for Sophie Smith in the rush for eighth. Dominik Stawny beat Callum Clague to the line for tenth and Thomas Reed outgunned Rebecca Cooil in the bunch gallop for 12th.

Niall Colquitt clipped off the front of a leading group of six riders to take the honours in the born 2005 category. Harry Kneen was second closely followed by Oliver Corkish, Oliver Sykes, Mairi Harrison and Chloe Dillon in third to sixth positions respectively. Oscar Lace led Teddy Dunn home for seventh and Ella Griffin held off chasing bunch escapees Tyler Annis and Harry Boyle for ninth.

A last lap attack gave Zac Walker a clear victory in the born 2004 class. Dillon Dowson was second and Ralf Holden pipped Cameron Dudley for third. Ben Boyle snatched fifth from Kiera Prentice and Toby Craig surged ahead of Megan Boardman and Annabel Corkill to take seventh. Nancy Wheeler wrapped up the top ten.

Leaving eight of his breakaway companions in his wheel tracks, Percy Hampton powered to an impressive solo win in the born 2003 three lapper. Jonty Bregazzi outpaced Matthew Black and Matthew Cooil in the dash for the runners-up spot, with Jack Christian having the edge on Thomas Skillicorn in the race for fifth. Darcy Cain was the best girl in tenth place. In the following born 2002 & earlier grouping Kaitlin Slack outsprinted Aaron Lund, Emma Draper, Joseph Corkish, James Harrison and Corrin Leeming to record her first win of the series.

In the under 10 racing bikes Percy Hampton notched up his second success of the night, sprinting ahead of Zac Walker and the hard working Jake Wilson for a clear victory. Jonty Bregazzi beat Matthew Black, Jack Christian and Dillon Dowson in the charge for fourth.

Tosh Teare forged ahead of fellow frontrunners Max Walker, Adam Scarffe, Aaron Lund, Emily Bridson and Will Corkill to bag maximum points in the under 12 racing bikes, with James Harrison leading an eight strong chasing group in for seventh.

In the under 16’s event Matthew Draper and Connor Davies made several determined but ultimately unsuccessful attempts to get away . At the finish Draper led out the sprint only to be thwarted by Matthew Bostock, who sprinted past to take the victory. Owen Dudley was a close third followed by Nathan Draper, Joseph Haddock, Conor Davies and first girl Elizabeth Holden.

* Please note that due to the NSC being unavailable during the TT motorcycle racing festival fortnight, the next round of the series will be on Tuesday, 11th June.
