News: Good night for Wales’ Team USN at Revolution

Jon Mould and Emily Kay secured victories in round one of the Revolution Series in Manchester for Team USN.

The series opened to a sell-out crowd in Manchester and will encompass five rounds in the 2013 – 2014 season, with the grand finale in London in March. Team USN took to the boards in the UCI events in the afternoon session.

Newport’s Jon Mould took the win in the UCI Points Race, with Welshman Owain Doull, from Cardiff in second. Newport’s Amy Hill came fourth in the UCI Points Race for Team USN, which was won by Olympic gold medallist Dani King.

Lewis Oliva, from Monmouthshire, featured in the sprint events for Team USN. He was defeated by Great Britain’s Jason Kenny in the Sprint semi-finals but secured a place in the Keirin finals.

The Women’s Elimination Race saw Team USN’s Hayley Jones narrowly miss out on a podium finish as she came in fourth. However, it was a Welsh 1-2-3 in the Men’s Elimination Race, part of the Revolution Elite Championship, as Luke Rowe (Team Sky) took the win with Jon Mould in second and Owain Doull in third. In the Women’s UCI Scratch Race, it was Emily Kay who took the gold in Team USN colours. Lewis Oliva returned for the Keirin finals, but missed out on a medal as he placed fourth behind Great Britain’s Kenny, Hindes and Crampton.

In the HOY Future Stars, there were seven Welsh riders across the boys and girls competitions. Jessica Roberts, Megan Barker, Joe Holt and Brett Nethell for Team USN with Sophie Williams and Megan Chard in the Telegraph All Stars, Bethany Taylor for Rapha Condor JLT and Emily Haycox for Rouleur.

Joe Holt and Jessica Roberts are both third in the Future Stars championship after the first round, full results from all events can be found on the Revolution Series website.

Team USN will be at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester 1 – 3 November 2013.
