Event News: Cheshire Classic Biggest Yet

Cheshire Classic Women’s Road Race takes place in Northwich on Sunday 27th April and promises to be the biggest yet

With an extended race distance, increased prize fund & a major new sponsor in house-builder Taylor Wimpey, the race is already getting entries from the country’s top women.

In 2014 the riders complete two extra laps extending the race distance to 92km in total, with the return of the Delamere Dairy Intermediate Sprint competition midway in the race.

The Cheshire Classic, which has been organised by Northwich based Weaver Valley Cycling Club since the 1980s, has seen household names such as Dame Sarah Storey, Lizzie Armitstead and Nicole Cooke take part.

New Sponsor
Taylor Wimpey, who is building the Winnington Village housing development near to the Cheshire Classic course, have come on-board alongside returning sponsors Delamere Dairy, Epic Cycles, de Vere Hotels and Your Sports Therapist.

Race organiser Andy Wood commented: “We are hoping for an amazing race in 2014! Women’s cycling is coming on leaps & bounds and we are really proud to secure some brilliant sponsors, with a couple of others still in the pipeline. This is great news for Northwich, as the race brings a huge amount of visitors to the town on that weekend”.
