EVENT PRESS RELEASE
The race which is organised by Weaver Valley Cycling Club, takes place in Northwich on Sunday 27th April and will see riders compete over an extended race distance, taking on 12 ascents of “The Cliff” climb. Wates and Adana Construction join sponsors Taylor Wimpey, Sport Cheshire, Delamere Dairy, Epic Cycles, de Vere Venues and Your Sports Therapist.

Ross Gardner of Wates Construction said: “We are currently in the middle of a major re-development in the centre of Northwich which includes a state-of-the-art lifestyle centre. Supporting the local community is very important to us and the Cheshire Classic was a no brainer considering the heritage and quality of riders that will be competing”.

Race Organiser Andy Wood commented: “We are delighted that Wates and Adana have come on board. When you see the quality of sponsors it shows how important the race is to the community, and importantly the investment in Women’s cycling. This year’s prize fund is our biggest yet, an increase of 50% on last year and we hope for an explosive race”.

Entries for the race close on Saturday 5th April with the race line up confirmed on Monday 7th April. The Cheshire Classic, which has been organised by Northwich based Weaver Valley Cycling Club since the 1980s, has seen household names such as Dame Sarah Storey, Lizzie Armitstead and Nicole Cooke take part.

A dedicated website features full information on the race, together with an advice area with tips for beginners and interviews with star riders. Please visit www.cheshireclassic.co.uk for more details. Real time updates can be found on Twitter @cheshireclassic and also Facebook.
