Time trial round up

7 Oaks Tri 10 Mile TT
It was a case of double PB’s for two MVC members in the Sevenoaks Tri 10-mile time on Saturday, 7 June. The event, which was held on the A20 at Harrietsham, saw Phil Booth and Kevin Toogood racing the clock to see how quickly they could complete the course.

Both riders excelled themselves with Phil clocking a new PB in 24.14 and Kevin an impressive 25.47. The event was won by 4t+ Velo rider Nick Malins in 21.16.

KCA 50
The following day Steve Smith, Kay Maynard and Ernie Mackay travelled to Brenzett for the Kent Cycling Association 50 mile time trial. Steve Smith was on fine form yet again and the good conditions helped him return an impressive time of 2.01.16. Obviously all the training on his new tandem with wife Nicola is paying off. His speedy performance earned him 16th place in a top field of riders.

74-year-old Ernie Mackey proved age is but a number, clocking a great time of 2.49.17. New lady member, Kay Maynard made the club proud by finally breaching the 17mph mark in 2.54.38 – knocking 15-minutes off her PB! Kay will be competing in Ironman Germany in July.

De Laune 10
Good news for three lucky MVC riders came through on email when the results of the DeLaune CC 10 from 31 May were released. Steve Smith took the purse for 5th (time of 22.34) with Alex Woolley taking cash for 40th and Ernie Mackey getting rewarded with some prize money for 90th. Well done to all!
