Report – Isle of Man RL360 Youth League
(by Dot Tilbury)

In the novices class Tristan Speight scored his maiden win of the series, crossing the line with a clear advantage over runner-up Harry Wilson. Top girl Abigail Cowell was a close third, with the consistent Jayjay Plowman leading Max Messenger home for fourth. Abigail Cullington, Harvey Pitts, Luke Pledger, Lily-Ann Scott and Alex Montgomery completed the top ten.

Eddie Dillon had to hold off a strong challenge from Callum Christian before claiming the victory in the born 2009 & later age group. Jarno Davidson came from behind to snatch third from Kylan Murphy and Harrison Skillan pipped Stanley Kinnish, Grace Wolstencroft, Dylan Bullock and Zach Jones in the sprint for fifth. Max Davies was a solid tenth and Mian Watterson kept the fast finishing Lewis Cannon at bay for 11th.

In the born 2008 category Alec Sorby rode clear of breakaway partner Myles Le Geyt on the final lap to notch up his fourth win of the season. Ollie Eyres beat Freddie Griffin in the fight for third and Deaglan Blake edged out Edward Field, Oliver Cooper and Fearne Bregazzi in the dash for fifth. T.J.Teare and Lennon Moore led the chasing pack in to round off the top ten leader board.

Maintaining his unbeaten record, Cian Howard led from start to finish in the born 2007 race. Orry Lund repelled a late charge from the impressive Florence Griffin to secure second and Charlie Scarffe stayed ahead of his pursuers to grab fourth. Jordan Carter headed Ben Davies over the line for fifth and Harry Deering got the better of Jemma Quayle in the tussle for seventh. Ellana Skillan was a safe ninth and newcomer Thomas Monaghan did well to outgun Olivia Quayle in the rush for tenth.

In the born 2006 event Cian Jackson powered away from Ivan Sorby on the finish straight to seize the win. Drystan Sewell lost contact with the two frontrunners in the closing stages, finishing a safe third ahead of Zachary Dowson and Owen Collins , who trailed in separately for fourth and fifth. Samuel Devereau snatched sixth from Nicola Quaye and Connor Moughtin outsprinted Harry Eyres, Jenson Artus and Lucy Field for eighth. Tomas Flowers led the rest of the field home to wrap up the top twelve.

Attacking from the gun, Niall Colquitt time trialled to a fine solo victory in the born 2005 class. Harry Kneen was too strong for Mairi Harrison and Oliver Corkish in the battle for second, while Alexander Deering outran impressive first timer Luke Robinson in rush for fifth. Tyler Annis won the race for seventh ahead of Frank Kinnish and Harry Boyle, with Luca Moretta squeezing out Chloe Dillon and Ella Griffin for tenth.

In the born 2004 class Zac Walker made an early bid for glory and left the rest of the field in his wheel tracks to fight over the minor placings. James Devereau was second closely followed by Kiera Prentice and Nathan Slack in third and fourth places respectively. Megan Boardman was a lonely fifth and Toby Craig overcame Annabel Corkill for sixth.

A ten-strong leading group of riders stayed together all the way to the finish of the born 2003 & earlier three lapper. In the end it was Jonty Bregazzi who took the sprint ahead of Percy Hampton and Matthew Cooil, with Emma Draper the top girl in seventh spot.

Notching up his second win of the night, Zac Walker accelerated out of the blocks in the under 10 racing bikes and was never seen again. A chasing group of eleven riders contested the sprint for second with Ralf Holden getting the verdict ahead of Nathan Slack. The hard working Niall Colquitt was fourth and first girl Kiera Prentice a very good fifth. James Devereau was sixth and Cian Jackson the best of the under 8 riders in seventh place.

In the under 12 racing bikes Charlie Gibson and James Harrison broke free shortly after they had neutralised a blistering second lap attack from Aaron Lund. The duo stayed clear to the finish where Gibson took the win, with Jonty Bregazzi leading the chasers home for third. Charlie Moss took the girls’ prize in 11th place.

A crash at two thirds distance brought the under 16 racing bikes to a standstill while the track was cleared. Although there were no serious injuries, William Draper and Daniel Scarffe were unable to continue.

After the restart it was Matthew Draper who came through to take the win ahead of Michael Moss and Conor Davies. Fifth placed Adam Kelly was the first category B rider and Sophie Black the top girl in ninth spot.
