News – Tour Of Cambridgeshire TT

Just a week after entries opened to the public the 2016 Tour of Cambridgeshire Chrono has set a new World Record for the highest number of entries to an international time trial event.

The UK qualifying round for the UCI World Amateur Time Trial Championships smashed through the previous best figure of 720 to reach 800 on Sunday proving that the hunger for Britons to compete for the coveted rainbow jersey continues to strengthen.

Tom Caldwell, Director of the Tour of Cambridgeshire said: “Following an amazing response by entrants, and the community at large, to the Tour Of Cambridgeshire Chrono and Gran Fondo in 2015 we are really pleased that we have been able to extend the event in 2016, this will make it bigger and better. We have been blown away by the speed with which places have sold out, added to that, to set a world record and be part of cycling history is a phenomenal achievement. Time trialling for the masses is alive and kicking in the UK!”

Such has been the demand for Chrono places that the organisers are to open a reserve list on 18th December which can be accessed through the Tour of Cambridgeshire website:

The field will take to closed roads on Saturday 4th June 2016 across a tough course that was highly rated by the UCI in 2015. The event forms part of a festival weekend that includes the closed roads Tour of Cambridgeshire Gran Fondo on Sunday 5th June.
