A Muddy Wessex League Round 12

The weekend presented the team with an absolute mud-fest of a cross race, this time hosted at the Southampton Sports Centre. Unphased by the grim racing conditions, three of our riders; Jody Crawford, Crispin Doyle and Steven Davis were on the startline for Round 12 of the Wessex Cyclo-cross League. In the Seniors category Jody Crawford finished strong in 2nd place. Crispin Doyle doyle secured 3rd place in the Vet 40+ category and Stephen Davis was victorious in the Vet 50+ category taking home the win.

Elsewhere in Herrington, Nick Barnes competed in Round 11 of the North East Cyclo-cross League. Conditions were much the same as those down South with riders knee deep in mud. Nonetheless, Nick rode well to secure 2nd place in the Seniors category.

Looking ahead to this weekend, the 2016 Lazer/Ridley British Cyclo-Cross Championships are being hosted on Shrewsbury turf. It’s going to be an exciting race and our very own Ian Field (above) (four times British Champ) is said to be the favourite to win the Senior Men’s race. Jody, Stephen, Nick and Harry will also be there racing in their respective categories so expect a cyclo-cross master-class from all involved.
