1. What was your highlight from 2015 and who are you riding for in 2016?
Madeleine: My highlight from 2015 was getting my first win and in 2016 I will be riding for SunSport Velo WRT.
2. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Madeleine: I start my road season early March at St Helens Pimbo
3. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Madeleine: I don’t really have any specific targets yet as a lot of races will be about gaining experience. We plan to do a mixture of local North West races and national events, as well as trips to Belgium, Holland and Ireland.
4. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Madeleine: At the moment it’s miles at the weekend, some turbo sessions and a bit of track racing. I’m also going to Gran Canaria at the end of Feb.
5. When it rains, which it’s doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Madeleine: It depends how bad the rain is really! If it’s windy and raining, I usually go for the turbo, it’s good to stick to the numbers, make sure my coach at SunSport is happy!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Madeleine: I’d love there to be a Women’s Tour de France. Everyone gets involved in the support of the race and it’s a good atmosphere for everyone watching.
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Madeleine: On the road would be a typical flapjack, although I’m quite liking bananas at the moment.
8. Who is the professional in the peloton on the tele who you enjoy watching race most and why?
Madeleine: I really like Fabian Cancellara, he’s a really classy rider. I was gutted when he crashed out of the TDF last year!
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Madeleine: I did like the idea of it at first, but then thinking about a crash involving discs, nasty.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
Madeleine: We are riding ORRO bikes with Ultegra for 2016. My favourite part would have to be how incredibly light they are!
