WNT Women’s Team strengthens line up for 2016 to bolster its chances of taking more victories and podiums throughout the season
News – Big year for WNT Women’s Team
Team WNT gets set for bigger challenges in 2016
Once again Hope Technology played host to Team WNT Elite Women’s Cycle Team as it prepares for its second season racing in the Matrix Fitness GP and the British Women’s National Road Series, along with invitations to European races.
Moving on from its inaugural season the team has made some changes to its roster that will bolster its chances of taking more victories and podiums throughout the season. Leading the team will be Irish National Road Race Champion Lydia Boylan, who will be joined by 2015 team mates Hannah Walker, Sam Burman, Jo Tindley and Becca Carter, with Natalie Grinczer, Keira McVitty, Corrine Clarke and Bex Rimmington joining the team for 2016.
“With this team line up we are confident that we can improve on our third place overall in each classification of the Tour Series, which in itself was an excellent achievement in our first season together. Our ultimate aim, of course, is to be number one. This is why this season we are embarking on a foray into Europe and entering a number of UCI events. This will allow our riders to develop their strength and race craft and draw comparisons against some of the best riders in the world,†says Marcus Nainby, Team Manager, Team WNT.
The major target for 2016 will be the Tour Series where Team WNT will be targeting the overall win. In only its second season targeting a series win is ambitious, but one that is achievable with the support of title sponsor WNT, which as a company is passionate about cycling. WNT is also extending its support of UK cycling by becoming an Official Partner of The Tour Series. “To have a sponsor that is as excited about cycling as WNT and is willing to provide the support needed to achieve the targets that we are setting ourselves is inspirational and certainly motivational for everyone on the team,†says Marcus.
In addition to WNT the Team will also continue to be supported by Hope Technology who will provide many Hope products, such as the Carbon 45 wheels with custom team finish and graphics, along with customised Hope hubs, for the Specialized S-Works bikes that the team will be riding again in 2016. This season also sees two new companies joining the list of Team WNT partners.
With WNT’s involvement in the manufacturing industry, with its range of precision cutting tools it is no surprise that many of the leading cycle equipment manufacturers, such as Hope Technology use their products. Another such leader is Rotor, the Spain-based producer of chain rings and cranksets, who come on-board with Team WNT as an official supplier and sponsor. Taking care of the rider’s nutrition needs will be Leeds-based OTE Sports Nutrition.
“The success that the team had in 2015 is encouraging more leading companies to take an interest in what Team WNT is achieving and how it is achieving it. Team life is not all about winning races, we will once again be taking part in WNT’s corporate and social activities in the coming year, both here in the UK and over at their headquarters in Germany,†says Marcus Nainby.
Speaking ahead of the launch WNT (UK) Managing Director, Tony Pennington said: “We were more than happy to continue and expand our involvement with womens’ elite cycling in the UK Last season was a terrific start to this involvement and with the team and event sponsorship in 2016 we are hoping to develop things even further and expand the interaction we have between our cycling team and our customers, who we will be inviting along to the races, so that they can witness the excitement for themselves.”
“Our involvement with Team WNT is also an extension of the partnerships that we have with companies such as Hope Technology here in the UK and through our sister company in Spain with Rotor. It is unusual for a company involved in the manufacturing sector to be so high profile in sponsorship of cycling, but we see it as a natural extension of our philosophy as a company, which is to develop strong team ethics that will lead to ultimate success in business.â€
