Ed Clancy and Jon Mould won Round 2 of the Revolution Series in Glasgow on Saturday, October 8.

Riding for JLT Condor, the duo won the Madison Time Trial event, Clancy winning the Flying Lap earlier during the afternoon session.

JLT were left clinging on to minor places when it came to the bunch races. Andy Tennant led Team PedalSure to two wins, winning the Point’s race himself and his teammate Wim Stroetinga showed impressive pace to overcome Christian Grasmann of Maloja Pushbikers in the final lap of the Team Elimination race.

Tennant, speaking after the race said, “We’ve got to try catch Ed [Clancy] haven’t we, he’s a bit good at the Flying Lap and Madison TT, he’s pretty much guaranteed two wins every night so that makes things a little bit more difficult for us.

“But still, we’re creeping our way up the table slowly but surely, two wins is something to take away. However, it’s all about that top 4 getting into the Champion League is the big one, it’s the thing that matters.”

Also in praise of his teammate I’ve raced with Wim [Stroetinga] a couple of times however probably this is the first time I’ve been on the same team as Wim. You’ve got to have a lot of trust in your partner when it comes to races such as the Madison Elimination, and I feel at ease when it does, but that’s probably more of their skill than mine.”

PedalSure and Team Wiggins are currently joint second in the overall general classification with one round to go, signalling their intent to JLT Condor that they won’t go down without a fight.

Podium Ambition p/b Club La Santa proved they are the team to beat in the Elite Women’s Championship as the combination of Katie Archibald, Neah Evans and Monica Dew secured them victory on the evening. Evans won Flying Lap and Scratch Race, Archibald winning the Elimination Scratch.

This meant that Podium Ambition leaped to the top of the leader board now ahead of Voxwomen who still managed to cling on to second with impressive rides from Lotte Kopecky, Laurie Berthon and Amber Joseph.

The Rotherham brothers were once again in fine entertaining form, good enough form to match their riding ability, Matt finishing first overall in the Sprint Omnium with brother Tom finishing second.

In praise of the new Sprint Omnium structure, Matt said, “It is great, it means we don’t have to worry about getting through to the next round and possibly be left out of the finals as it was with the sprint competition. This now allows you to have an off race, and is more about consistency.

“It has also opened the door for us to be able to do Elimination and Scratch races, and they’re things that I don’t necessarily mind, I love racing them kind of events.”

Phil Hindes and Callum Skinner were both racing after a month off post Rio Olympics where they won gold in the Team Sprint. They both had impressive results throughout the day, Skinner winning the final heat of the day.

Sir Chris Hoy was in attendance to watch his HOY Future Stars race and they didn’t disappoint.

Ellie Russell won three out of three of her races catapulting her to a comfortable lead in the girl’s competition. The boy’s competition leader Jim Brown managed to maintain his lead in the competition despite not winning a race on the evening.
