Local rider Glen Hale from Holmfirth wins the Barnsley Road Club road race on Sunday (May 28) in Yorkshire

On a glorious day on the tops of at Hade Edge West Yorkshire, 60 riders set off to fight for this regional B road race, which usually shows off the developing talents coming up through the ranks. The field, which was significantly built up of under 30s, got straight down to it with a real smash fest whittling the field down by half in the first few laps.

Michael Harris (HD Revolutions) struck out around half way through and this break away specialist kept out front for around 2 laps before being swept up.

Usually, nature does the damage on this hilly circuit and we tend to see a small group break away; but for the second time in May on this circuit the remaining riders kept together and fought it out in a bunch sprint with a group of 9 going toe to toe.

With a number of strong riders targeting this event, it was on form local rider Glen Hale from Holmfirth (which Hade Edge sits above) taking the spoils from Thomas Pootter (All Terrain) and Barnsley rider Shaun Dolby (Geared Up & CN Cycles RT)
