Warren Gell wins the Drag2Zero Open 10 on the fast Levens (L1015) course in the Lake District

On Saturday, the www.drag2zero.com Cycling Team organised their first race – a 10mile TT on the fast Levens (L1015) course in the Lake District. The race attracted a full field of 100 riders + reserves, and was narrowly won overall by Warren Gell (coveryourcar.co.uk/RT) in a time of 20:01, with a one second margin over 2nd placed Harry Armstrong (Berwick Wheelers).

First lady was Lucy Sill (Stay Classy RT) 24:20, and 1st Vet 60yr old Dave Isherwood (Team Swift Allsports) with a -6.59 on standard. Team Swift Allsports also pushed Cleveleys CRC into 2nd in the team competition.

The event was initially concieved with the aim of raising £1000 for the Sharoe Green Maternity Hospital Babybeat Appeal (www.babybeat.co.uk), a charity close to the hearts of event organisers Mark & Antoinette Holton who lost their baby daughter in 2009.

However, thanks to extraordinary generosity from event sponsors in the form of raffle prizes (www.drag2zero.com, www.smartaerotechnology.com, www.bikeradar.com, www.zipvitsport.co.uk, and the Rabobank Protour Team!), sponsorship of the race HQ by www.madora.co.uk, and many donations, the event has so far raised over £1700 for the charity.
