Jack Pullar won a star studded Monsal Hill Climb in front of a big crowd in Derbyshire

Wheelbase rider Jack Pullar was the only rider under 1.20 on the short steep slopes of the Monsal climb near Bakewell in Derbyshire. He defeated top pro Russell Downing (Endura Racing) who admitted afterwards he was over geared on the fixed wheel bike he rode.

Third was the British Champion Gunnar Gronlund of RST Clothing/Trigon Bikes who found the course a little short for his liking but added he was coming back to his best after injury and illness during the season. Top team on the day was RST Clothing/Trigon Bikes riders Joey Walker (son of former winner Chris), Daniel Storey and Gunnar.

Jack Pullar yet again surprised the pros with his class by winning the Monsal Hill Climb. Pullar has previously done this in a time trial in Beverely before the crit there. His next stop is the BEC CC Hill Climb.

If there was a prize for top family it would have been the Walkers, Joey (top Youth), former winner and professional Chris and daughter Jessie Walker.

One of the few riders to race on fixed wheel, Endura Racing’s Russell Downing was over geared and it showed as he raced to the line in second place.

One of the rider’s of the season, Raleigh GAC rider Graham Briggs was 7th in this test against the hill.

Dean Downing came out fighting and was an excellent fourth. 

Former winner Chris Walker (RST/Trigon) came through the crowd so fast a top place was expected but alas, he finished a bit further down the order but still looked great on his prototype Curve bike.

Resplendent in his champions skinsuit from RST clothing, Gunnar Gronlund on his Trigon bike was third. He rode a single chainring of 44 teeth …

Another of the top pros there was Liam Holoham of Raleigh GAC.
