News: Welsh Cycling announces team for Manchester Track World Cup

Welsh Cycling has confirmed the athletes who will compete for Team USN at the first round of the 2013/14 UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester 1 – 3 November 2013.

Track World Cup medallist and National Madison Champion, Jon Mould will compete in the Men’s Points and Scratch races. British Cycling Olympic Podium Programme athlete, Lewis Oliva will contest the sprint competitions for Team USN. Current Junior World Team Pursuit Champions, Amy Hill, Hayley Jones and Emily Kay will join Ciara Horne in the Women’s Team Pursuit.

Matt Cosgrove, Welsh Cycling Performance Director, said: “We are again pleased to have the support of USN this winter to enable our athletes to compete on the world stage, exposing them to the highest level of competition.

As well as Wales’ Team USN in the competition, there are a further four Welsh athletes in the Great Britain squad for Manchester. This is all good preparation for them for the Commonwealth Games next summer.”

Team USN is part of Welsh Cycling’s Performance Programme, and aims to prepare and develop Wales’ track cyclists to compete at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow maximising their potential to succeed on the world stage.

Team USN will also be competing at round one of the Revolution Series in Manchester on Saturday 26 October 2013.
