Best of the Brits of Jack Clarkson (below) in 30th who told Paul Burgoine afterwards “Well that was a case of did I enjoy it? Yes and no… The form was there but I broke my shoe on the second lap, so I had to make seated efforts all day. Its tricky out there, kind of muddy on the top and icy underneath”.
“I quite liked the sections after the hurdles and on the steps, I could make up a bit of time on that. The trouble was I just couldn’t stand up at all because as soon as I stood up, it was pulling my shoe out. Its just one of those things, last race of the season and it all goes wrong. But I loved it and it was the first time this year I have raced in ice. I’ll have a rest now!â€

Nicholas Barnes (36th) “I am amazed at that ride. I got a good start when everyone went wide and I just railed up the edge and got around a few. I rode aggressively at the start on the ups and downs and gained places also on the run ups. I was quicker than a lot of people for the first few laps so felt really strong there. I’ve got another year in Under 23 so hopefully I will be better it in Zolder, but that was a great experience.â€

Ben Sumner (41st) (above) “I got taken down right at the start, shipped my chain, started to make up places but throughout the race, I lost my chain six times. But, apart from that my legs felt good, but it wasa just one of those days I had two good laps but apart from that, it was just one of those days.â€
