Velosure Starley Primal Pro Cycling is dedicated to supporting women’s cycling and has today announced its new women’s team roster for the 2015 season. The team has signed six new young riders, lowering the average age of the team to 21. The women will target all key national elite events in the British racing calendar.
Tanya Griffiths
Velosure Starley Primal is the only professional elite cycling team in the UK that has invested in both a male and female squad for 2015. James Smith, Velosure Starley Primal Team Manager, said: “This year our women’s team is a mixture of youth and experience. We’ve invested in a number of younger riders to give them the opportunity to develop their skills in a professional set-up, however we’ve also got some more experienced riders who’ll be able to give guidance and share their racing knowledge.
“We look forward to continuing to support women’s cycling by enabling our female riders to progress in a supportive and structured environment.â€
The team has maintained its core rider and signed Tanya Griffiths for another year. Griffiths continues to achieve impressive results having won the Tickhill GP in September and was instrumental in assisting former teammate, Eileen Roe to a National Circuit Race Championship victory.
Joining Griffiths will be ultra distance rider and Transcontinental Race finisher, Gaby Leveridge and Belgian cyclist, Pia De Quint.
Both riders are newcomers to the British scene however they will be real assets to the team in 2015. Leveridge has already proved herself to be an impressive climber winning a 17.5km mountain time-trial in Corcheval this summer whilst De Quint will be a force to be reckoned with in the Belgium style kermesses and criteriums.
The team will be supported by three younger riders; Josephine Gilbert, Sian Botteley and Laura Cheesman. The three women have strong results across many cycling disciplines, including the road and track, and will be key to the team’s success next season.
First year junior, Emily Attfield who took a number of wins including a National Youth Series round at Castle Combe as under 16 this year, will also ride in the Velosure Starley Primal colours.
