Event Press Release
Such is the popularity of the Circuit of the Fens that, after just two years, entries are already arriving thick and fast. Somewhat surprising since the race is not due to take place until Sunday 26th July, still six months away.

The headline event of the day, the re-styled ‘Circuit of the Fens Pro-Elite Classic’ is expected to attract a full field with all of the top UK based teams represented. However, run under the same conditions as the ‘National A’ event, the supporting race for 2/3 categories has also become a ‘must-ride’ event and that presents the promoters with a dilemma.

The supporting event is the St Ives CC’s counting event for the Eastern League series. Priority has to be given to ERRL riders but the race attracts entries from much further afield. Rather than deter such entries it has been decided that, for 2015, an extra race will help meet both needs.

The additional race, also for 2/3 categories, will be added to the Sunday schedule and is to be based upon the Fenland village of Benwick. Both the parish council and local residents have been very supportive to the ‘Circuit of the Fens’ over the last two years and now they will have their own race.

The ‘Circuit of Benwick’, over 6 laps of a 9.5 mile circuit, will start at 09h00 am and should be finished by 11h15. The early start will afford riders the opportunity to stay on and support the main event of the weekend, the Circuit of the Fens Pro-Elite Classic.

The Circuit of the Fens Pro-Elite Classic’ (135 miles) will start from Whittlesey at 12h00 and the established Circuit of the Fens Support Race (75 miles) at 12h05. All three races will benefit from the rolling road closures agreed with Cambridgeshire Highways and police. Full medical back-up and neutral service will also be on hand for each of the races.

The ‘Circuit of the Fens Grand Prix Sportive’ (over four distances) promoted by ‘Wheels in Wheels’ on Saturday 25th July will complete the Whittlesey Cycling Weekend. More details available on the Cyclosport and ‘Wheels in Wheels’ websites.
