Yanto Barker sprinted in with former winner Chris Opie to clinch the first two of the four they filled in the race. Marcin Bialoblocki was third and George Harper fourth.

Report & Photos from Graham Robins

Yanto Barker riding for the new team ONE Pro Cycling led a four rider team success on the 50th edition of the Perfs Road Race on a lovely warm day just to the north of Portsmouth. The race was 44miles in length with 33 miles on the Portsdown circuit and 11 miles on the Newtown Circuit.

As the riders rolled away from the start on the traditional season opener the pace was very fast and soon the attacks started with three riders clipping of the front the managed a small gap. The riders Mitchell Webber (Pedal Heaven), Michael Thompson (Team Wiggins) and Chris Opie (ONE Pro Cycling) soon started to build a lead of 300 meters over three chasers Marcin Bialoblocki (ONE Pro Cycling), Rory Townsend (Pedal Heaven Colbornes RT) and eventual winner Yanto Barker with the peloton now 51secs back.

The two groups joined together just after the start of the second lap and they were soon joined by George Harper (ONE Pro Cycling) and James Lowden (Neon-Velo) and this group work hard to pull out a gap of well over 90secs over the remainder of the peloton which by now had started to fracture.
As the race approached the change of course the lead group was now down to five with riders Opie, Townsend, Harper, Barker and Bialoblocki leading Thompson and Webber by 23secs and Lowden just behind and the bunch at over 3mins.

At the bell Barker attacked pulling Opie clear and these two managed to pull clear of Bialoblocki for the remainder of the last lap. Up the last climb towards the finish line Barker had the lead and pulls clear in the final half mile to cross the line a second clear of Opie. Bialoblocki was third and Harper rounded out a good day for the ONE Pro Cycling riders with fourth.

Brilliant weather, probably the best ever, shone on the race which has been the victim of the weather on many occassions.

The race saw a large break escape early on as the pace was on from the word go.
