News: Bialoblocki misses 10 title by 3 secs

After winning the 25 championships and breaking many a comp record, favourite for the 10 title in Scotland on Sunday was birthday boy Marcin Bialoblocki. He was however beaten by one of Scotland’s favourite sons in cycling, John Archibald by just 3 seconds.

After the podium presentation, a disappointed Marcin said afterwards “it was a bad day for me very much” he explained when I said it was not how he expected to celebrate his birthday.

“The mistake was travelling here yesterday; eight hours in the car didn’t do good for me and I was like between 20 and 30 watts down on my power. Everything in the ride except power was good but the power today was important and today, I did not have it.”

Asked he if wants to come back and look to win more RTTC championships, Marcin replied “yes, it’s great fun and and I have bigger goals for the future and with a bit of luck, I will get to try for the one hour record on the track.” Marcin then added he’s also a reserve for the Worlds racing for Poland as his rival, no less a rider than former world road race champion Michal Kwiatkowski who Marcin beat in the nationals, is the rider currently riding the worlds.

On his bike set up for the 10 champs, Marcin says “The bike was set up the same as other courses with the 58 chain ring, Revolver disc wheel and Pinarello frame and Nopinz skinsuit.” Riding for himself this season, he says he is happy with that. “I am proud of what I have done this season and been enjoying it and hopefully will carry on next year. I have few more time trials this year, national 50 at the end of September and perhaps a two up time trial in Poland.”

Asked what he intends to do next season, Marcin replied “I have no idea as yet. I have not spoken to my sponsors yet and not sure if they want to continue.” When I added would he like to continue solo or with a team, he replies “either way. I am enjoying riding time trials, and I would enjoy riding for a team. I was not asked by teams this year but if a good team asked me to ride, I would consider for sure.”
