Damien Clayton used the strong cross winds to help shape the Danum Trophy race and take the victory in a two up sprint with John Archibald. Damien help create a selection on the first lap of the race (11 laps) and the break held a small gap to the next chase group with the race well split behind.

As the finish laps approached, there was more attacking and Damien attacked and was joined in a four up lead group with John Archibald, Joe Shillabeer and Bradley Symonds. Then with a lap top go through the finish area, Damien attacked again to reduce that group to two – him and John Archibald, and in the sprint a lap later, Damien out sprinted John to add his name to an illustrious list of winners of this Yorkshire classic.
