Crit Result: SACA Salt Ayre Series 1

Week 1 of the SACA series, sponsored by Papervelo, was a 25 lap handicap tempo race with points for first over the line every lap from 5 to 25. There were 4 groups in the handicap with 4th cats going off first, followed by a large 3rd cat group at 40 seconds, a large 2nd cat group at 1 min 10 and just 3 first cats at 1 min 25.

The 3rd cat group almost immediately split as a hard working group caught the 4th cats in only 3 laps and held off the 2nd cats for most of the race. The first cats worked very hard chasing but never made the front, catching all but the fastest of the other groups.

The points competition was won by a large margin by Jake Edwards of Cog Set Papyrus Racing Club, to receive a prize from Papervelo. The race result was a sprint finish win for John Bardsley (360 cycling) from Thomas Ashcroft (unattached) and Dan Eastham (Cog Set Papyrus).
