Sigma Sport and Peak Cycle Performance join forces with Nuun to support the rebranded “Nuun-Sigma Sport-London†amateur cycle racing team for 2014

Nuun-Sigma Sport-London Racing Team is proud to announce their continuing and new partnerships for 2014 along with an extended roster of riders for the coming season.
Sigma Sport, a cycle retailer based in Kingston-upon-Thames, recently made the headlines after their long standing Pro Continental cycle team unfortunately was unable to secure a deal with a headline sponsor for 2014.
However, Sigma Sport has traditionally supported domestic amateur teams and individual athletes and in 2014 Sigma Sport has committed to a partnership which sees them becoming joint title sponsor and retail partner with the aim of extending their reach to the UK cycling scene.
Newly formed Peak Cycle Performance sees the combining of years of physical assessment, therapeutic treatments, bike fitting and performance testing in a concept that aims to assist newcomers and seasoned athletes to realise their potential under one roof. Peak Cycle Performance have joined forced with Sigma and Nuun to support the team in 2014 and using the team’s concept of London-based amateur training and racing as a vehicle for some real life case studies into how performance can be improved with a busy work/life schedule.
For a second consecutive year, the global active hydration supplements company, Nuun & Co have committed to another year of support which further solidifies any already fun and proactive working relationship. For Nuun, the key message is the importance of performance hydration and the ethos and programme for the team in 2013 and going forward assists Nuun in getting the message out.
2014 sees the team line up growing to 15 riders who all have full time jobs, some with families, but with a common goal to race at a high level and to enjoy the sport of cycling. Many of the core riders will stay on for the coming season but bolstered by the addition of some new faces including James Holland-Leader, crowned 2014 National Derny Champion on 29th December and Tom Copeland, a former professional rider who was based in France and later rode for the Sigma Sport -Specialized Pro Continental team in 2011.
Team manager and rider Cameron Fraser said: “The team was born with the sole purpose of demonstrating it is possible to compete with some of the best riders in the country which having full time jobs and busy social and family lives but having a lot of fun while doing it. We want to get the message to London and beyond what is possible with a busy schedule and to give back to the huge wave of new enthusiasts taking up the sport some of experiences and skills the team has gained over many years of riding and racing. With the partnerships we have for 2014 we can do all of this a lot better and with a wider reachâ€.
“The single best thing about the Nuun-Sigma Sport-London team is that we are all good friends based in or around London, we like to train and race hard but you won’t find us too far away from a good pubâ€. The 2014 season gets underway very early with track specialist and a former junior champion Symon Lewis competing in January’s National Madison Championships with none other than World Tour rider Alex Dowsett.
As well as concentrating on the various National Track Championships, the team will also focus on town centre based criteriums that generate most immediate public exposure, such as the IG Markets Smithfield Nocturne, as well as riding non competitive events such as Ride London 100.
