Top International Cyclo Cross action returns to the region
At the end of this month the star names of Cyclo Cross will be gathering at Trinity Park in Ipswich to compete in Round 4 of the National Trophy Series. With over 400
competitors in all categories from the young rising stars in the youth races to some of the legendary names of the sport in the Veterans Classes, there is sure to be something for
everyone to enjoy.
First ever Icelandic Cyclo Cross Team to compete in UK at Trinity Park.
Among the top European Professional Riders making the long journey to Ipswich will be the first ever Icelandic International Cyclo Cross Team Kria Racing. Comprising of no less than three National Champions in the Elite Men, Elite Women & Junior categories. Hoping to spoil the party for Iceland will be the current British Champion Ian Field who will be planning to cement his position as the UK’s top Cyclo Cross Rider riding a specially made Ridley bike in the British champions colours from sponsor Hargroves Cycles Ridley.
Local Interest for the Race will be high with top riders competing in every category with particular attention on International Rider and Local Star Hugo Robinson (Neon Velo).
Robinson is based in the USA and will return the week before the Race making Trinity Park his first UK Event of the Season. In the Women’s Race Ipswich Rider, mother of two, Cycle Shop manager & Elmy Cycles RT Rider Joanne Newstead is hoping for a top 6 finish in her category and her team mate Grant Martin will be looking for a top 20 position in the Elite Race.
The Mayor of Ipswich Councillor Glen Chisholm will present the awards & will award the Mayors Trophy to the highest place local rider, a Trophy sure to be as hard fought as the medals for the top three.
