Result: Mid Shropshire Wheelers Sunday Circuit Races 2

A bitterly cold easterly wind didn’t deter attacking racing at Mid Shropshire Wheelers Sunday Circuit Race #2 and maybe encouraged some fast and furious racing just to keep warm. A little more shelter than the Finish Line Lubes EZ-Up would have been most welcome for the judging and timing crew though!

Some stunning performances throughout the age categories with host club Josh Jackson again winning solo but not having it his own way, a solo attack was brought back by a committed bunch in the under 12s before having a rethink and taking off again to take the win.

Excitement in the under 16 Boys from Matthew Kingston and Emile Alexander as they combined well until 10 laps to go and then started attacking each other, great to watch and when they finally starting finessing in the final two laps they were almost undone by a late charge from Adam Smith and Sam Holwill who closed to within 4 seconds until a panicked Lichfield coach alerted the leading duo to the danger.

Alice Towers (RST/Cycle Division) won her third West Midlands series race on the trot today at Shrewsbury to continue leading the series

Local Josh Williams again proved too fast in the bunch sprint of the 2/3 category race, John Leonard and Ray Bell could hardly be separated in the 4th category bunch sprint, the White brothers kept to their winning ways in the under 8 and under 10 boys for the host club.

Racing returns to the Shrewsbury Sports Village Circuit in May for the Hafren CC Thursday night #2 and Mid Shropshire Wheelers Sunday #3 which includes a rund of the British Cycling ParaCycling Handbike Series.
