It was an interesting race for the team with an excellent third for Luca Bednarek and three in the top 8 (3rd, 5th & 8th) in the epic Junior Men’s CiCLE Classic on Sunday. Better still and an interesting statistic, those placings also meant they were 1st, 2nd and 3rd out of the first year Juniors on the day. When you consider the limited racing on the open road a Youth rider can do, for first year juniors to be so high up a result is an awesome indication of their talent.

One of the rides of the race was Harrison Dainty in 8th. With Martin and Giles in the team car making the decision early on to abandon Harrison Dainty after he crashed and it appeared he was too far off to regain the bunch, the rider surprised them by chasing solo for a solid hour and Harrison did indeed make it back to the bunch.

Then, after the team realised he had made it back to the front of the race, Harrison was found stood at the road side with 10 miles to go, this time with a puncture. The team gave him a new bike and Harrison rejoined the group ahead and took the bunch sprint for a top 10 placing!

Martin says “Giles and I didn’t believe him at first. We thought he must have been lapped! We joked he must have hid behind a tree. It took his Strava feed to convince us of his mad ride!”

Meanwhile, the teams Luca Bednarek in third says “I’m happy with third but there’s definitely room for improvement as well. I was quite lucky as I had no mechanicals or anything. I just tried to stay at the front the whole time. On all the sectors anything could happen so I tried to stay out of danger. Somerberg was good fun. I do a bit of cross as well and that definitely helped knowing what line to ride and stuff.”

3. Luca Bednarek, +0:17
5. Max Hinds, +0:17
8. Harrison Dainty, +0:20

The team is off to Girona next week for a training camp with Ed Clancy and Jonny Clay and then Cadence RR in Wales, Strada Bianchi and E3.
