News – UCI Licence for Drops Cycling Team

Drops Cycling Team (Women’s) have been granted a UCI licence for 2016

Drops will be one of only two UK based UCI licensed women’s teams for the 2016 season. Team Director Bob Varney said: “The UCI licence provides us with a fantastic opportunity for the team to develop, allowing us to compete in a greater number of and higher quality races.

“This will ensure that we can continue to offer a realistic pathway to the professional scene of women’s cycling for British riders. We are proud of our all-British roster and being able to offer a structured environment for British riders to showcase their talents at the highest level of women’s cycling.”

“This is really exciting news for all of us at Drops, from our riders and staff to sponsors and management. We have all been working really hard behind the scenes to make this happen and the news received is a proud moment for all concerned. Drops Cycling Team will officially launch on Friday 12th February 2016 at the London Cycle Show.

Competitive action will get underway a few weeks later, on 2nd March at the GP Samyn in Belgium.

Drops was launched in 2014 by parent company, Queensway Print, a printing business that’s been successful through three generations in delivering innovative and professional print to a wide portfolio of clients. Now in its third generation, the family business is run by cycling enthusiasts, and so Drops was born.
